BEIJING, China (Reuters) -- China has launched a four-month "war" on tainted food, drugs and exports, state media reported on Friday, as beleaguered officials embraced time-tested campaign tactics to clean up the country's battered image.
The campaign will focus on products that have dented consumers' confidence in the "Made in China" label.
Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi told officials the campaign, to run to the end of the year, would focus on problem products that have badly dented domestic and foreign consumers' confidence in the "Made in China" label.
"This is a special battle to protect the health and personal interests of the public and to protect the reputation of Chinese goods and the national image," Wu said, according to the government Web site.
The world's largest toymaker, Mattel, recalled more than 18 million Chinese-made toys in mid-August because of hazards from small magnets that can cause injury if swallowed, just two weeks after it recalled 1.5 million toys due to fears over lead paint.
Wal-Mart said it was asking suppliers to resubmit testing documentation for the toys it sells after Mattel's move.
Other Chinese export scares have hit toothpaste, animal-food ingredients, tires, eels and seafood, and deadly chemicals that found their way into cough medicine, killing dozens of patients in Panama.
Shaken by the product scares, China has fought back with new rules, factory shutdowns, constant news conferences and now an old-style campaign to shake up local officials often more focused on economic-growth targets.
Wu blamed lax inspection and enforcement and failure of officials in rival agencies to cooperate. She vowed to whip them into line with a list of eight tasks and 20 specific goals.
"Clearly, this is an autocratic, top-down approach using campaigning methods," said Mao Shoulong, an expert on public policy at the People's University of China.
"In China, this campaigning method still has a role to play in addressing relatively simple problems, because when grassroots officials see the premier or vice premier taking up an issue, focusing on it, they know they also have to sit up and pay attention."
Since 1949, the ruling Communist Party has often resorted to short-term storming campaigns to deal with enemies, pests and policy bottlenecks, though the frequency and intensity of these efforts have died down in past decades.
"The execution of Zheng Xiaoyu was also part of that campaigning approach to get officials' attention," said Mao, referring to the former head of the national food and drug safety watchdog, who was executed in July for taking bribes.
In the latest health scare the Shanghai Daily reported on Friday that city officials had seized more than a ton of kelp soaked in a toxic chemical to keep it looking fresh. They also found fake wine and vinegar.
Wu, the powerful trade-policy chief who was named head of a leading group on product safety, announced targets to clean up pig slaughtering, restaurants and canteens, pesticide use, food additives and the country's vital exports.
She defended the general quality of food exports but said there were also deep-seated problems.
"In some businesses the management level is low, production conditions are poor, quality levels and standards are low, and reliability is weak," she said

I read this quite interestingly, and while I was reading it, I remembered that I once saw in CNN that a Chinese girl died after she took a medicine when she was sick. The medicine was made in China, and some toxic chemical things were in it; so the girl died in few days. The family of the girl were heart broken. I think that this is one of the big problems of China. It's good that China is making goods that we need so we can buy them much cheaper than when it's made in Korea, America, or any other countries. But for goods like drinks, foods, and medicines made in China, we can't really trust them. I really do wonder how the Chinese people get through sickness when they don't know if the medicine they would be taking is toxic? They might try to get through the sickness without the medicine, but when they get too sick, they might die. I hope that they could fix the medicines or drinks or food made in China, so the Chinese people won't have to fear what would happen after they take the medicine, or go through hard times without the medicine.
Wow. After i read this, i am scared that i might be poisened. A lot of toys i bought when i was a kid were made in china and i thought china was a wonderful toy making place, sort of like heaven. I still buy items made from China and from reading this article, my like in China decreased a bit or so. I dont hate China because it that stuff made there are cheap but now i am on the alert and kind of worried after reading this article.
I really was surprised that the China declared or started a war. I kind of knew that "Made in China" sign were not familier with but I never knew that they made magnets toys so that the children could swallow and get injury. Also I was kind of shocked how acidic or powerful that toothpast could be. Thnaks for looking at my suck comment/
whoa. I kind of know what this article is about strongly because for the summer I went to China. The guide told us that the water that they sell in china is not safe and clean so the guide stronly warned us that we should buy water from korea and bring it on the trip. It was scary even thinking about what we were going to eat in china because all of us could've gotten sick or even maybe died becasue of the food, and water. But luckily nothing happened. I also saw on the news that poor people make the food they sell out of cardboard or other, nasty stuff, but then later again the news said that that was a fake, so i dont kno who to believe...
This is one of these prefound things that you shouldn't really care about but is all around you. Well, I just thought that this was one of the most olvious things that would happen.
I always thought that China was a dirty country that tired to rip people off by either bad price or bad material (as always, my thoughts were right). Even my uncle said that when he was in China, this man was shouting aloud how he was proud that he hasn't changed the oil in his frying machine since his great-grandfather (if that isn't dirty, i don't know what is). It doesn't really matter to me because I don't eat toys, take drugs, or feel this thing in my stomach that tells me that I was poisoned or about to die.

I think that this is posted because we are going to learn about China next and it it BIG news that China is finally cleaning it's own mess that it got itself plunged into. I hope that they succeed, in fact: THEY'D BETTER SUCCEEDE!

This relates to what we have been learning because we are learning about Asia and China is definetly in Asia, it is also specifically in the part of Asia that we are about to study and even more specifically speciffically, it is the one that we are most likely to study next.

i guess that this wasn't too hard.
the story reminded me of the twin
towers in 9-11, 2002 because it toched my heart to know that they are loved by there familys
I had no faith in "Made in China" since I was eight years old. Now, I will not believe more and more.
I knew that China had bad stuff in the food and other toys but I didn't know the problem was this big. From now, I won't eat and drink Chinese food and the medicine
that are made in China. When I went to China this summer, I had a good experience and thought about China physically. If I read this before I went to China, I would have not eat the food and die in China. The China had very bad pollution and the quality of everything were lower than Korea.
Thank you for this article and it was very helpful.
and INTERESTING!!!
Before reading this article, my mind preferred "Made in China" than "Made in Korea." However, after reading this, my mind says '"Made in China" is a no-no.' I once saw in news that someone in Korea got sick by the meat he ate which he thought it was made in Korea, but later comes out to be made in China. The company that are producing tainted products does not only impact the people who buys them, but also on its own country. Since a product from China was tainted, no one will want to buy the product from China anymore. Making the factories to shut down will stop the harm to both people and the government in China. The toys I bought will not harm me, since I will not eat them. However, the foods or medicines from China will definitely harm me. Now, I prefer "Made in Korea" than "Made in China."

I read this article, and I found it very intresting because I didn'treally care if a product was made in China, for I have never gotten sick or had any damages because of it.People are losing confidence in these products, and China's export profit decreases. I feel that if the Chinese goverment enforce the food health security more, people will once again buy the chinese products without worrying. Japanese products were also known for their poor condition, but now they are reliable to use. I think this article was chosen because it shows the economy of one of the richest countries in Asia, which is China. It show you information about China's unsafe products. This article relates to one of the things we learned in social studies class. We learned that China's economy is prosperous and is a global leader with one of the top companies. Now China needs to get the attention back from customers to keep that up. I now know that I should beware of Chinese products. I'd rather buy a $20 chicken from the U.S. than a $5 chicken from China.
I never really thought about how the products that china are making could be that dangerous to the extent that its killing many people. We should really be alert of what kind of medicine and food we buy. For example, for a while, i bet many people will not want to buy chinas products, because of this one incident. This could really effect chinas economy greatly. china is finally realizing these things, and trying to do something about them.

I always have known that some Chinese products have been a rip off, especially food, electronics and clothes. When I went to China I went with a little fear that anything would happen but now it seems so dangerous to go into China. This article reminded me of the biggest stomach bug on a Cruise ship called Cunard’s Line ship; they had more than 300 people get sick on the ship because their food was terribly bad and was believed to be food poisoned. They had dozens believe that the product was imported into America from a different place and was changed into an American product but still to this day nobody knows who did it. China is spoiling its image immensely and needs to start improving if they have a chance of being the best in world. Now I will never trust “Made in China”. They have a chance of getting their reputation if they close down unreliable factories and markets that sell all corrupted products.

China is a mass producer, and is already taking a big amount of the world economy and markets. Even in Korea, if you just go out the streets, there lies tons of “Made In China” products. I think this is because the China is the world’s first rank in population, and because of that, mass
WOW!!this is a very interesting event. This is a shocking surprising news that really convinces people to warn them about the china products. China has been known as a country that makes fake products. I have once bought a toy which was made in china, it broke right after the first day. China should get very serious in stoping people to making medicines out of unknown ingredients.

China is a mass producer, and is already taking a big amount of the world economy and markets. Even in Korea, if you just go out the streets, there lies tons of “Made In China” products. I think this is because the China is the world’s first rank in population, and because of that, mass production in industries in China is a common thing. In addition, China too, is following on technology in a vast speed, which the Korean markets must fear because if the China catches up Korea in technology, the Korean markets can neither survive in the global market by production or technology, and the Korean economy would be consumed by the vast growing China. But after reading this article, I was once more reminded how the Korea survived such a long time. Even though China is growing vastly, still, Korea’s technology and quality of the products are still overcoming China. Not only Korea, several other countries that are surviving with qualities of goods are capable to take their place now because China isn’t perfect yet on getting high rank qualities of products. I think Mr. Mcallister posted this article to show that none of the nations can be the perfect power and even the mighty China has some problems, and that other nations can still survive in global markets, for now.
Gosh, I am really shocked about this article. This article really changed my idea of the MADE IN CHINA products. Can we really trust these products now? Even after Vice Premier Wu's efforts and new rules and regulations, can we still trust China Made products? I was quite surprised at how serious this situations is in many areas such as toys, foods, medicine, etc. I cannot believe Zheng Xiaou allowed the contaminated products to be exported. His execution caught my attention but I still believe that was too cruel a punishment. With many Chinese product related deaths/illness and issues coming up, the question is coming up: Can we trust Chinese products? The new campaign going on for four months, this situation may change how we consume products and how and where products are manufactured. I mean really is Cheap always the best?
I think this article was chosen because it may have an impact on Asia the continent we are studying.
This article relates to what we learned in class. China and several other countries like Japan and Singapore use industry, manufacturing, and trade to raise their economy but with this issue affecting a huge part of China's manufacturing and industry, we cannot be sure whether the issue will have a positive or negative effect in the long run. This is a serious issue and is not to be ignored.
It was quite interesting event, and usually people think MADE IN CHINA is a kind of low class product and it made me think more about that. I think it doesn't matter about the governemnts help in China, because i heard this MADE IN CHINA stuff from long time ago. That is why most of the cheap stuff is there and everyone goes there to buy, but i'm not sure if i could trust even though it is cheap. You might just do it because it's cheap, but it might affect your health and everything about you. I seriously think China's product or MADE IN CHINA prodcut should be kind of get help or get cared about it. If it is really bad things like toxic chemical. I think the factory should be closed down, because it might have affect on other people. I was kind of surprise to the governemnt because i thought the China's governement like those stuff because they are selling alot and they are making their economy developed. It was quite shocking when China's government decalred War on tainted products.
Thank you for this article because i knew something about China's government's hope and feelings.
I thought this article was very interesting, because all we know is the bad side of China and people who are in China are probably sad and angry because everyone in other countries probably think China always does something wrong and nothing right. Also, when I read this I remembered that China is trustable in goods that are not going to be eaten or used as medicine, except herbal medicine, because China does make everything that we buy such as tissues, plastic plates, knives, cermanics, and other utensils cheaper. Chinese people who work in those factories probably do not realize the harm because they need money and that is all they can think of. But some traditional Chinese medicine like herbal medicine are used a lot but most people know if it is too cheap, it is probably fake and not buy it. I know a lot of people in Korea like to buy the cheaper things to save money but somethings like perfume, medicine, and food should be checked if it is made in China. I think this article was chosen for this week because it is about a country in Asia and since China is the first in population, and because we are probably going to study about China first. This relates to something we are doing in class because we are learning generally about Asia.
Wow, I had no idea that problems like this were going on in the world. I found some of the problems especially interesting such as the kelp soaked in toxic chemical and the medicine that killed dozens of patients in Vietnam. It has made me very aware of what I put into my mouth and where the things I buy are made in. it has also made me very sad to realize that people will do almost anything to sell things and get money. It is scary to think that so much of the stuff that people buy around the world is made in China. That anything could potentially be harmful, you never know when you buy something in a store. I really hope that China can get this problem cleaned up because the safety of many lives could potentially be in their hands. From a Christian point of view, this is very upsetting as well because God made this beautiful world and all these beautiful people to live in it, and some people want to do harm and hurt what God has created. I hope that this mess will be sorted out and sorted out soon so that no more harm will come to anyone.
After reading this, It just reminded me of a quote in a movie called the Sahara. The quote was, "We're Africa, noeone cares about Africa." It kind of reminded me of "We're China, noeone cares about China." I think it is good that China is now actually trying to make a difference, a difference where they can be looked as one of the advanced countries like Japan or our super proud country Korea. It is also good to show that they are critical about stating it as a "war" on tainted foods, drugs, and exports.
Even though China is known for its philosophy and kungfu, it is more known to be a dirty, rip-off, and a cheap country. After all that bad reputation for being what I listed above about the trash and dirtiness, it seems now they are trying to clean up the reputation in that area. Especially the "Made in China" thing.
I think the problem of drugs are most serious in the matter. They can kill anyone or injure someone very badly. I hope they will clean and fix that problem quickly.
China is a huge country with a huge amount of people. I think China has to make a goal of making a good economy right now or else because I believe that sometime or day that we will have to depend on China for the future. If they do then they will be probably one of the most influencing country in the world.
This article is about China which is trying to get rid of the image of Chinese products which is known as 'Made in China, the low-quality product'. Sadly, I also have a bad image on Chinese products, such as toxic toys, and inferiority of products.
It might be an example of identity what we are learning in the chapel. Once one got identity by other people, it is hard to erase the identity even if he calls out the help of the government. Although, even it is hard to erase the image, if the one got a good identity by other people, it also can't be changed easily.
I would say that this article is quite interesting. I never knew that China was having problems with “tainted” products. I find it interesting that there are so many items are dangerous. I always thought that Chinese products were really good. I do know that if you go there to shop, they will realize you are American and they will raise the prices on their toy’s/food. I used to like China, now I’m afraid to go there not knowing what could happen to me if I buy something that is “tainted”. I also can’t believe that so many people would actually want to poison China’s reputation. I would really love just to stay away from China until the situation is done.
China has goods and equipment for are lives. Some them are fake which can cause accidents.I think that China will one day regain its trust on selling unfake materials, food and other essentials. But it the want to do that the have to buy real materials to make essentials. I pray that China will one day regain it's trust.
Wow...all can say is WOW.It makes me really sad that such tings are going out to my country and other peoples countrys. It sounds like China is reall tring to get rid of this problem, but it sounds like a depper rut than I would have thought just scaning over it. Its really awful that bad chemicles are just...right there in cough medicine. In america you can just go up the the market and get asprin or cough medicine. So it sound really much worse when you can just get it and time. But also I think they are tring to crack down on this one because it said "The execution of Zheng Xiaoyu was also part of that campaigning approach to get officials' attention" so it sounds like its not just scraching the surface.
I knew that made in China things were bad and breaks easily, but thing that made me shocked and surprised was that the tooth paste that they put tires, bad chemicals and other things. These days, because made in China things are very cheap, people buys them a lot, even I buy made in china toys, clothes, and many other materials I need. But after I read this article, I realized that "cheap" is not always good for you. From know on, I will check whatever I buy from china, and I will incurage people not to buy made in china things.
I am very glad to hear that the world’s largest manufacturing country is trying to change its public image and to correct the wrong-doing that came from a poor working/producing environment. I hope that through this campaign it can help China grow into a better country, and be able to produce healthy and legal products. I also hope that the image of “cheap” product will not be imprinted just by the MADE IN CHINA label. For a fact, China produces almost ALL Dell, Sony, and Apple products as well as most of the manufacturing thanks to its cheap labor, so in order to have healthy products for all other people around the world, I believe that this process MUST TAKE PLACE. I am certain that this will make China a better country and give foundation for a better economy.
P.S. Chinese argue that Goguryeo is their history, however they must acknowledge the fact that Goguryeo is part of out proud 5 millennium long history. DOKDO IS PART OF KOREA (for all Japanese reading this) Dokdo is 87.4㎞ away from one of the largest islands of Korea, unlike Japan who is almost triple further in distance.
Everything is “Made in China”. When I look at everything I have, most of the things I own are “Made in China”. I know a book that talks about someone trying to live a life without something that was made in China. She said it was quite impossible. However, if you REALLY didn't want to do with anything that was made in China, you would have to get shoes, clothing, etc. that was specially made and everything. "Made in China" is a label that we see almost everyday of our lives. Many people say that if something is “Mad in China”, that it’s “not good” and it would “break really easily”. Yes, I agree with them sometimes. Many people say brand-name clothes, and other things are really good quality and everything. I wouldn’t agree so much on that statement. Even though a shirt from a brand may look really nice with great quality, most are “Made in China”. I was pretty shocked to read that China would actually launch a four-month war on tainted food, drugs, etc, to clean up China’s thrashed image. When someone hears “China”, many people might think, “Oh, CHINA…” or they might just even shake their heads in disgust. In my OPINION, I think that China shouldn’t have such an awful image. I mean, think about it. If China didn’t co-operate as much in making so much, this world would be a WHOLE LOT smaller. I think that there may be some problems trying to get so many people to get jobs to work in factories. In fact, I think that China plays a really important role in life. However, perhaps China should work more on trying to get medicine, foods, etc. more accurate, and not put too much chemicals and such. I was extremely shocked to read this part of the article: “She vowed to whip them into line with a list of eight tasks and 20 specific goals.” After reading this, I kind of thought that she would whip them physically with a real whip. Then I realized that this couldn’t really be possible and that this statement was saying that she would “whip” as in “train”. I was surprised to read that one of the most important people of making stuff in China would say something like that. Yet, I do think that perhaps China should try harder in making stuff better, with better quality than before.
I believe that this is the right move for China. I have the same feeling as well as many others when they find out that the product they’re about to buy is made from China. Products from China are known for bad quality and by trying to uplift it China will surely have better income on exports. The area earns a lot of money by the many factories that reside there. However, if the companies don’t trust their manufacturing anymore, China will lose income. Factories may go out of business, and that means many people will lose jobs and will earn nothing for their living. To bring Chinese people out of poverty the government made a great effort to try and get the unemployed to work in factories. This means that the people who finally got employed may have to go out of business again. It is a great idea that the government is working hard to get rid of the bad image. Not only will China have a better image to the world, the place will earn a lot of money and more people could get employed. Only the bad quality is keeping people from building factories there even though China has many people that can work. If companies can trust China again, there would be even bigger and more factories residing China. I think this article was chosen because everyone in our class can relate to this subject, as many people have bought Chinese products, and because China is a part of Asia which we live in and the continent we are currently studying. During the past week we have studied many parts of Asia and one was China. China is a famous country, so we were very likely to relate to it. The area is a very great country no matter what and is what we call the “world’s largest manufacturing company”. Without China, the world wouldn’t be as much developed because of their use of people. As I said, it would be a great idea to uplift their manufacturing quality as it would be the best for the economy of China and the world. I hope that one day when people look at the “Made in China” label people won’t lower down their opinion in buying the product.
this article really made me change my mind about chinas products. I was really shocked that a person died because eating medicine that was made from china. Because of this i think that there will be a change in chinas economy, and that less people will buy things that are made from china. i didnt really care about if a product was made from china or not, but this article has really made me change my mind. Just because it is cheap, we shouldnt buy it. We should look at the quality before the price.
While I was reading the article, I was shocked about all the products and food they were poisoning. It was scary to know that China was doing these things. It also reminded me of a magazine article I read, where this group of people went to China and got really sick from eating the food there. After I read this article, I remembered that my parents were going to go to China for a trip with a pastor. It scared me to think that my parents could’ve gotten sick or even died of eating food there, without having any information or warning. I am so glad that my parents didn’t go. There was also a time where my cousin got food poisoning from eating food from China. He was really sick and threw up a lot…. My mom and aunt always said that you can never trust China because they are rip offs and cheap because every time we get a toy from China, it breaks. I always thought that China was the most productive of all of these things people got, but now I know that we can’t trust them. Almost half of the world’s products are made from China. Without them, it would be hard. After all this trouble, I think that China will change and do a better job of making food and toys so that we can trust them again…… I’m really glad that I was warned about it……..
as like others, i definitively though that was too bad. actually China should be more care of themselves. because of those people are unsafe. as an example in Korea, there's a lts of product which are made by China and people are buying those, and this come sometimes a serious problem! usually China's Product are not very strong its totally WEAK. korean people want to made those in China because its cheap to made in China. in contrast, in my opinion, people should be more prudent/careful when we buy lectop, camera, and ect...) that will be sure that some of will gonna buy but we can try to little to little -^^- >-<
I think this campaign will fail. Because these days, there are so many things that is "Made in China" And it is hard to change or to buy a trust from people. The till now numerous people in compliance wih made in china puts on a damage, it continues a damage to the people now. However, if china make us to trust them we would buy and support china.
I knew that the country china is a bad, and dirty country. But I was surprise after I read this article. In addition, poison on toothpastes are not a good news. And also they have poisons in toys, medicines, and foods.
I thought that this article helped me to becareful about china's products.
I have lived in China for many years, but I never knew things were going this bad. I always knew not to trust Chinese products because I heard of the bad things happening because of Chinese products. Vice Premier Wu was working very hard to solve these problems, but I think it will still be hard to trust Chinese products. I was shocked to hear how serious these situations were about products made in China. Can we ever trust these products then? After reading this article, I feel that I should always be alert and not only think about how cheap the object is, but also think about the quality.
I think this article is quite intersting because I didn't really care where the product was made because I never got sick by using them. I sort of noticed that 'Made in China' wasn't really trustful but. I heard that the U.S. stopped importing products from China because of this reason.
I think there should be more 'Made in Korea' and others
I enjoyed reading this article, thankyou
As I was living I bought lots of “Made in China” stuff. It was cheaper and also there were lots of “Made in China” things in Korea. I felt that China had made stuff easily and was just selling it and I knew it was bad. But I didn’t know that it was this bad. As I was reading this article I was shocked. I visited China this summer and I just wish that I haven’t. I think that I will now try to avoid “Made in China” things. I can’t really say I’m not going to use it because there are so many products that were made in China. I think that it was a great article it helped me a lot.
This article was quite interesting because there always have been negative reputation about MADE IN CHINA products. I wonder why China’s government is trying to solve this so late, because China’s products was always on the side where people don’t really trust, but buy them because they are cheap. Not all the MADE IN CHINA products are non trustable, and bad, but it is obvious that people don’t really like China’s product as much as others because of the tainted products. All the companies that made tainted products have harmed not only the customers all around the world, but also their country’s reputation and economy value too. I didn’t know that MADE IN CHINA products that we use almost everyday without noticing have been this much harmful and poisonous to everyone. MADE IN CHINA is everywhere around the world especially Korea because we import them a lot. But on the other side, I think it is very important to import good-quality things, be strict on what we import. Even if China makes low quality, tainted things, it wouldn’t be a problem if we don’t import them. Anyways, I once again thought that cheap labor is not always good, and the quality is the most important thing we should be concerning about. I’m glad that the government is now trying to close down those inappropriate companies and making new rules about it, but I still can’t give 100% reliance to the MADE IN CHINA products. I think this article was chosen because now, at least, China is trying to make everything right, so we can give a little trust in it than before. Also, even if China is growing huge in economy and power, they still have problems that they need to give attention to. So I think this article tells us that even the most populated country can be struggling with things and it is very important to build up a good reputation to the world. However, this relates to what we are about to learn, because we’re learning about Asia, and China is a big part of Asia.
That's really freaky that all those medicines and products were messed up with chemicals and poisoons. I know that almost everything you pick up if you look at the label it will say "made in China." I really hope that no more people get poisoned from stuff like that! I can't believe that China would make stuff like that on purpose. I could understand if someone else was doing that on purpose in the process and China didn't know about it. They were doing it on purpose though. That's pretty sad. Before I read this article I had never given a second thought about whether something was Made in China or Made in the North Pole. I didn't care. As long as it was good for me or it tasted good or it was fun to play with I was happy. But now I think I will check more often on things and see where they were made. I think that we were given this article to read because this was a huge event and we might be learning more about this in our class or other big things that happened like this throughout Asia. Also, it relates to what we are learning about because we just started to learn about Asia and China is obviously part of Asia. This was a very interesting article about China so I think that we will be learning more about this in class.
While I read through this article,it made me think of the issues caused from the products of 'Made in China'.This article caught my attention because Korea
had and has many problems happening because of the imported products from China. Recently,I saw in the news, that a toy company had its products to be made in China, because its cheaper
than to make it in their own country. However, the little kids (including kids from Korea)that sucked on the toys became ill because the paint from the toys had started to peel off. During the news, I remember being myself shocked of how they had been so careless when they were making toys for the little kids that would have been happy and bought the toys. I think that the factories should think about how they'd like to use the products that they trusted, suddenly harming them one day. It's good that the factories are shutting down, but I'm still worried about the products that are imported already. Also, I'm worried about when these factories will stop making dangerous, harmful products, when China is one of the largest countries in the world. Now that I read this article, I'm even more afraid and concerned of using the products from China. I am hoping that these problems happening around in the world would decrease and end soon.
Thank you for reading my comment=]

When I read this article, I was pretty shocked because many products that people use all over the world are made in China. I was afraid a bit myself because probably most of the things I use are made in China and if I buy the products with poison in them, than I might be in danger. If I were living in China, than I would be frightened to buy any product even if it were food or clothes or toys. Whenever I used to buy objects and see that it was made in China, I would be very impressed with China and think, “Wow…China is awesome at making products” or “How can they make all these pretty things?” or “The Chinese people are very talented!” But now I feel disappointed a little because of what I just read. It’s very surprising that people would do those things. What if someone gets sick and needs medicine very badly but the medicine is poisoned? If this happens, they won’t be able to recover at all or for a while. When I Heard that many people had died because of a deadly chemical inside a cough medicine, made me feel sad and scared at the same time. If some parents want to buy their children toys for a present, than they have to be extremely cautious at what they are buying. It would be very awful if people can’t buy the products they want to buy. Hopefully the Chinese vice Premier Wu Yi will take care of all these conflicts and help everyone by resolving the issue. I truly wish that the problems of the products that are made in China are taken care of so that no one else can get hurt. I believe that there are too many bad things that are happening in this world, but I also believe that problems are always solved somehow.
When I was done reading this article, I was in extreme shock. After I’ve gotten over my shock, I realized that the shock was becoming anger. “How dare they be so careless about other people’s health!” I thought, “How dare they make products that are fatal to human health and don’t even warn them!” I strongly wish that everyone would be more careful when buying this in China and that they won’t be buying them because it is cheep…
I really think that if those sellers don’t stop soon, then no one will trust China anymore and won’t buy China’s things, which will make China poor. I really do wish that the people will stop tricking people in order to get money. I really don’t understand why they would do such a thing. They can still earn money by selling good things, no?
I can understand why we were supposed to read this article. Firstly, it has a lot of things to do with Asia because China is a big part of Asia and it sells lots of things to other countries in Asia. Secondly, it has to do with government and industries.
after I read this. I was shocked. I knew that the chinese make things like that but not this much. when i was kid I bought alot of toys but I did not know it was from chinese and it was bad. still the chinese make toys , food , drink and alot of stuff. I think they make alot of things is good but I hope they will know what they were doing.
Now days some people say that china might be a strong country. I have had a positive attitude toward the china. However, this article gave me a chance to change my thought about the china. As everybody notice, the chinese have the talent to make the things look like real one. Also, I believed that it was one of there own good talent. We can't do it but they can do it. We called it the own's talent, right? This article is about the chinese making the toys with the materials that are harmful to us. As I read this part of the article. it makes me so sad and I can't stop the blame. They are same people like us but how can they do like that. The children will lead our country. I think that Chinese are making the weapon to danger the children. Of course, it may possible for them to make those things just for the money. But this is wrong. I wish that most of people including those who made the terrible toys, always can think that the toys they make can be used by their own children.
it remined me of them in the war
in (1977) because they were scard
of being seporated from their familys i would not be seporated
from my family like that at all
that was very interstnig and One day we went to E-mart to buy kickboard but than the guy who works there said that it's not mafe in Chain so it wont break easily. Me also don't want to buy something that is made in China beacuse it is cheat but then I feel like that it is not very good and easily beakable.
Yeah i know from my knowledge when i was young until now that chinese products are not made from the best material. WEll actually I meant like really bad. The only good thing about chinese products is that they are cheap. But in some countries they have rip-offs on some products which have the label 'made in china' on it which also gives away the passion of having the product whether it is a shirt a shoe especially important uses and wearbale products. You might one day go to your friends party and you might have worn a made in china, unpopular, no brand T-shirt. And your friend finds out they would laugh at you big time. These days people are also the people who are the problem to some of these fine products, they mock too much about the chinese products. In fact its been so common for the past several years that its very hard for someone to say oh made in china thats good! But the products that are toxic and edible is an issue to mock about but the company is trying and trying harder and harder to change and reverse that forever. But In my thoughts it will be very hard for the company to be successful because people already know the truth that chinese products are nothing compared to vietnam's products or singapore or thailand. Thank you for listening to this excellent, relevant, and exuberant comment that will hopefully contribute to everyone who saw this comment.
now i wonder how safe anything coming from china is. Before this i never really thought about where my clothes and stuff came from but i realized everything seems to come from china or poorer countries...wonder why?
I can relate to this because when ever I buy something from china it only lasts for about a week. One time when I was little I had a teddy bear and I slept with it one night and in the morning the head fell off. I agree that many products made in China are low quality and this may be because many of the people in China are poor. Also after reading this I am quit scared to visit China because I might get poisened. I just dont trust a lable that says "Made in China"
this 'war' i mean this paragraph
is like....similer with 9/11
it has be many sacrifice.
After I read this, I noticed that everything was "Made in China" yet everyone bought items labeled like that. Since almost everything is made in China, items that aren't labeled Made in China seems to be rather fake. I knew that there were some commotion about this but I didn't know it would become such a big situation. The Chinese government is rather blaming on the other reasons, and not blaming theirselves. This has just made China have a bad image in the society with the other countries. I hope this won't spread around or become even a bigger problem; if it ends peacefully, then everything would be fine.
I know some china product has a low quality. But I didn't know how bad the China was. It was very interesting to me. I think they should find a way out.
After I finished reading this article, I knew many other things. I never knew that even Chinese cared about this situation. I can understand why they are selling and exporting the bad things to other countries, but I think that it's too bad to sell poisonous products to people. I can guess that the Chinese government is working hard on this situation, but even though they solve this problem, the other countries will think that China makes bad stuffs. But I like that China is taking this problem seriously and working hard on it. I also think that the other countries that imports China's products is not good, too. I know that they sell them in cheap prices, but if they really care about their country and citizens, then they wouldn't import bad things. I hope this problem stops as soon as possible.
check point
All things made in China is not bad. Some people make things with cheap and bad stuff to make money, but not all people.
I used things that are made in China for 14years but I'm healthy.
And I ate foods that is from China also for 14years.
I don't think all things from China is bad. The minimum number of people is doing that but not all.
i was surprised all war start at china.all of toys were made in china or japan and we didn,t think about where that made from.i was surprised and i think for this story i will think that china is not really good. And i never use china who made.
